HomeAI & Machine LearningIs the Galaxy S25 Edge Slimmer Than a Slice of Thin-Crust Pizza?

Is the Galaxy S25 Edge Slimmer Than a Slice of Thin-Crust Pizza?

I’ve spent the last two weeks writing about how thin Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Edge is, but I figured I’d really show you, by comparing it to a few everyday items. After all, I’m sure you’ve been desperately wanting to know how the phone measures up to a slice of thin-crust pizza — right?

The Galaxy S25 Edge is 5.8mm thick and has a generous 6.7-inch display, just like the S25 Plus. But unlike the Plus, which weighs 190 grams, the Edge weighs just 163 grams, making it feel featherlight in my hand. The price, however, is anything but light: The S25 Edge goes on sale May 30 for $1,100. (You can check out my in-depth review here.)

For now, though, let’s focus on just how skinny the S25 Edge is, through some visual examples. Starting with pizza, of course.

Before the New Yorkers come for me, I’ll fully acknowledge that San Francisco thin-crust has nothing on a New York slice, but you work with what you’ve got. I measured the S25 Edge against a slice of cheese pizza, and I was impressed by just how similar in thickness they are to each other. (Thankfully, the S25 Edge is a lot less flexible, due to its titanium frame.)

They’re just about the same. Well, in one respect anyway.

I also compared the phone to a stack of pennies. Without accounting for the camera bump, the S25 Edge is about four pennies thick.

With the camera bump, you’ll need to add a few more pennies. Thankfully, the S25 Edge’s two rear cameras aren’t too obtrusive, but they nevertheless add a little bulk. With the camera module, the S25 Edge is about seven pennies thick.

Penny (or seven) for your thoughts?

When I saw the Tecno Spark Slim phone concept at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in March, I marveled at how the 5.75mm-thick device was slimmer than a pencil. So, I had to see how the S25 Edge compares to a pencil too — and it turns out it’s also thinner.

I had to toss in one more food comparison, so here’s how the S25 Edge compares to a thin Tate’s chocolate chip cookie (crispy cookies are not my cup of tea, but I bought these in the name of science). It does in fact appear slimmer than one of those abominably thin cookies.

If you’d rather see the S25 Edge compared to another superskinny phone, here’s how it compares to the Oppo Find N5 foldable, which measures 4.21mm thick when open.

And here’s the S25 Edge next to the 7.3mm-thick S25 Plus and 7.2mm-thick baseline S25.

Just for good measure (pun intended), I’ll leave you with an image of the S25 Edge next to the S25 Plus, to really show the difference between the two phones.

We’ll see who else hops on the thin phone bandwagon and competes in the next episode of Are You Thinner Than a Pizza Slice. (Apple, the ball’s in your court.)
