Here’s a basic tip for every NYT Connections puzzle: Read the clues, and determine if some of them are both a common noun and the the last name of a famous person. For example, “Cruise” can refer to a pricey boat trip, and it can also refer to movie star Tom Cruise’s last name. Look for those double meanings, and you’ll land some purple categories.
