Apple’s message backgrounds may eventually save me from odd revelations in group chats.

Although it’s not particularly innovative or even classic, Apple’s announcement to allow background images to appear in messages from its WWDC presentation might preserve my friend groups.

Apple announced that Messages may receive a few improvements as part of its new iphone 26 update, especially for group chats.

That causes some uncomfortable situations when some members of the larger group are included in messages that are specifically intended for our journey group. The only way to tell them apart is through the group’s name, but a customized background could help me quickly distinguish my travel friend from the larger group ( the practice background could be a beach field, for example ).

Additionally, the upgrade will display a typing bubble so I can see who is working on a text ( as you would in a one-on-one message ). Again, it’s a little thing, but it gives the listener the option to ask for a follow-up. So we can all wait before expressing our ideas.
