I’m Tracking 11 Important Products for Price Changes With Tariffs Then Linked to Inflation.

Trump’s levies could lead to rate increases that are closer than ever. James Martin/CNET

With President Donald Trump making a punt on another significant date ahead, and a fresh Consumer Price Index summary indicating that prices increased by 2.7 % in June, the largest increase since February, is more important than ever. Despite the heaviest of Trump’s taxes being consistently delayed, that CPI document appears to confirm the concerns of academics and customers alike that expenses are creeping up yet.

In light of those concerns, I’ve been monitoring costs every day for 11 important products likely to be affected by tariff-induced rate increases, and the result is this: Not so much, at least not already. The winding path of price inflation still stretches before us into an uncertain potential, but the risk of rate hikes continues to cloud the sky.

I’ve seen two notable rate increases to date, one for the Xbox One X and the other for a well-known, affordable 4K TV. Some additional products– including Apple’s common AirPods and a distinctive brand of printer paint– have gone on sale for short periods. &nbsp,

Wired Tax Tracker Index

The average cost of the 11 products in this part will be shown in a table over over the course of 2025. This will help give you a sense of the overall value shifts and swings going on. Deeper down, you can check out the figures for each specific item being tracked. Based on the numbers so much, the average has gone away notably since the start of the year, but this has been driven largely be a huge shifts for a few products, as most price are also secure.

As rates change, we’ll keep updating this article frequently. It’s all in the title of helping you make sense of things, but be sure to check back every so often. Methodology

We’re checking costs regularly and will upgrade the article and the important charts straight away to reveal any changes. The most recent of the following figures is marked” Now” and displays the current price. Each one has a single bullet point for each quarter. For the past weeks, we’ve gone with what was the most popular price for each piece in the given month. &nbsp,

In most cases, the cost numbers used in these maps were pulled from Amazon using the traditional price-tracker application Keepa. The prices for the iPhones are based on the 128-gigabyte base model of the most recent iPhone 16 release and are based on Apple’s standard materials. For the Xbox One X, the charges were sourced from Best Get using the device PriceTracker. If any of these items are going to be on sale at any particular moment, we’ll be sure to let you know and discuss how these value drops may cause longer-term prices trends, such as tariffs.

The 11 products we’re tracking

Electronic devices and digital items are the main focus of this article’s focus, along with a typical bag of coffee, a more modest product that isn’t produced in the US in any significant way, like iPhones and affordable 4K TVs. &nbsp,

The items featured were chosen for a number of reasons: some of them are well-known and/or reasonably priced representatives of well-known and affordable consumer tech categories, such as smartphones, TVs, and game consoles. Others are meant to represent things that consumers might buy more frequently, like printer ink or coffee beans. Due to the higher likelihood of tariffs, some products were chosen over others. Some of these products have been reviewed by CNET or have been featured in some of our best lists.

We’ll get into more detail about each individual product below, and stay until the end for a rundown of some other noteworthy items.

iPhone 16

Since the iPhone is the most widely used brand of smartphones in the US, price tracking was a top priority. The iPhone has also emerged as a major focal point for conversations about tariffs, given its popularity and its susceptibility to import taxes because of its overseas production, largely in China. Trump reportedly has a fixation on the notion that the iPhone can and should be produced in the US, a notion that experts have dismissed as a fantasy. Estimates have also suggested that a US-made iPhone would cost as much as$ 3, 500.

The price shown on this graph is what you’ll see if you purchase your phone from a major carrier, though. If you, say, buy direct from Apple or Best Buy without a carrier involved, you’ll be charged an extra$ 30, so in some places, you might see the list price of the standard iPhone 16 listed as$ 830.

In response to these tariffs, Apple has been taking some precautions, including moving production from China to India in bulk shipments. A new Reuters report found that a staggering 97 % of iPhones imported from the latter country, March through May, were bound for the US. Trump once more expressed his anger by threatening the company with a 25 % tariff if they didn’t move production to the US, a position CEO Tim Cook has repeatedly rejected in the past. This came after Trump gave a tariff exemption to electronic devices including smartphones, so the future of that move seems in doubt now.

Duracell AA batteries

A lot of the tech products in your home might boast a rechargeable energy source but individual batteries are still an everyday essential and I can tell you from experience that as soon as you forget about them, you’ll be needing to restock. The Duracell AAs we’re tracking are some of Amazon’s top-selling batteries.

Samsung DU7200 TV

Televisions are among the most well-known tech products available, even if they aren’t as frequently purchased as smartphones are. This particular product is a popular entry-level 4K TV and was CNET’s pick for best overall budget TV for 2025. Samsung is a South Korean company, which may have some degree of tariff resistance, in contrast to many other tech products that have strong supply lines in China. &nbsp,

After spending the majority of 2025 at around$ 400, this item has now experienced some notable upticks on Amazon, most recently settling at around$ 450. This could potentially be in reaction to Trump’s announcement of 25 % tariffs against South Korea this week.

Xbox One X

Video game software and hardware are a market segment expected to be hit hard by the Trump tariffs. Microsoft’s Xbox is the first console brand to see price hikes — the company cited “market conditions” along with the rising cost of development. Most notably, this included an increase in the price of the flagship Xbox One X, up from $500 to $600. Numerous Xbox accessories also were affected and the company also said that “certain” games will eventually see a price hike from $70 to $80.

Initially, we were tracking the price of the much more popular Nintendo Switch as a representative of the gaming market. Nintendo has not yet increased the price of its handheld-console hybrid, and it has stressed that the$ 450 price tag for the upcoming Switch 2 has not yet been inflated due to tariff increases. Sony, meanwhile, has so far only increased prices on its PlayStation hardware in markets outside the US.

AirPods Pro 2

The latest iteration of Apple’s wildly popular true-wireless earbuds are here to represent the headphone market. A quick look at the Amazon sales charts on the internet shows you how much the brand dominates all headphone sales, much to the chagrin of the audiophiles out there. While Prime Day might be in the rearview mirror at this point, you can grab a pair of these earbuds for$ 169, a$ 30 discount from where they’ve been most of the year.

HP 962 CMY printer ink is ink-jet.

This HP printer ink includes cyan, magenta and yellow all in one product and recently saw its price jump from around$ 72– where it stayed for most of 2025– to$ 80, which is around its highest price over the last five years. We will be monitoring this to see if this is a gradual change or a gradual rise. For now, if you’re looking for a cheaper restock, this product is currently$ 10 off on Amazon.

We’re still tracking that item, but this one replaced Overture PLA Filament for 3D printers in this piece.

Anker 10, 000-mAh, 30-watt power bank

Anker’s accessories are a resolutely popular item in the tech market, and the company has already stated that some of its items will soon become more expensive as a result of tariff increases. This specific product has also been featured in some of CNET’s lists of the best portable chargers. &nbsp,

Bose TV speaker

Given the frequently iffy sound quality of the speakers installed in TVs, soundbars have grown to be significant purchases. While not the biggest or the best offering in the space, the Bose TV Speaker is one of the more affordable soundbar options out there, especially hailing from a brand as popular as Bose. &nbsp,

Oral-B Pro 1000 electric toothbrush

Although electric toothbrushes are likely much more expensive than their more traditional counterparts, consumers still make them a popular choice because of how well they perform the job. I know my dentist won’t let up on how much I need one. CNET chose this particular Oral-B toothbrush as the top electric toothbrush of 2025 overall.

This product hasn’t seen its price budge one way or another most of the year, but while Prime Day might have come and gone, there’s still a$ 10 coupon listed on Amazon right now, letting you save a little bit of money for the time being.

Lenovo Chromebook with the Flex 5i

Lenovo is notable among the big laptop manufacturers for being a Chinese company making its products especially susceptible to Trump’s tariffs.

Its price has largely remained constant for the time being. You can, however, grab it on Amazon right now at a$ 20 discount, but we’ll have to see how long that actually lasts.

Starbucks Ground Coffee ( 28-ounce bag )

Coffee is included in this tracker because of its ubiquity– I’m certainly drinking too much of it these days– and because it’s uniquely susceptible to Trump’s tariff agenda. Known as the” Coffee Belt,” a tropical region largely outside the United States, limits the cultivation of coffee beans to a certain distance from the equator.

Hawaii is the only part of the US that can produce coffee beans, with data&nbsp, from USAFacts showing that 11.5 million pounds were harvested there in the 2022-23 season– little more than a drop in the mug, as the US consumed 282 times that amount of coffee during that period. Even worse, there hasn’t been as much production of Hawaiian coffee in a while.

All that to say: Americans get almost all of their coffee from overseas, making it one of the most likely products to see price hikes from tariffs. This particular bag of Starbucks beans hasn’t changed much over the course of the year, but in recent days, it has increased significantly on Amazon for less than a dollar, which could indicate further increases in the future.

Other products

As previously mentioned, we occasionally switch out products for less expensive ones. Here are some things no longer featured above, but that we’re still keeping an eye on:

  • Nintendo Switch: The baseline handheld-console hybrid has held steady around $299 most places — including Amazon — since it released in 2017. Whether that price will be affected by tariffs or the release of the Switch 2 remains to be seen. This product was replaced above with the Xbox One X.
  • Overture PLA 3D printer filament: This is a popular choice on Amazon for the material needed to run 3D printers. It has been on Amazon for around$ 15 all year. This product was replaced above by the HP 962 printer ink.

Here are some items we also wanted to highlight that haven’t yet been exhibited with a graph:

Razer Blade 18 ( 2025 ), 5070 Ti edition: The latest revision of Razer’s largest gaming laptop saw a$ 300 price bump recently, with the base model featured an RTX 5070 Ti graphics card now priced at$ 3, 500 ahead of launch, compared to the$ 3, 200 price announced in February. Razer has kept quiet about the rationale, but it did previously stop selling products to US customers as Trump’s tariff plans increased in April.

  • Asus ROG Ally X: The premium version of Asus’s Steam Deck competitor handheld gaming PC recently saw a price hike from$ 799 to$ 899, coinciding with the announcement of the company’s upcoming Xbox-branded Ally handhelds.
