This week, the Trump administration lowered the overall costs from 145 % to 30 % for 90 days, as well as continuing trade agreements. While these techniques will get some means to averting an economic combat, the charges against China are also generally higher and reports continue to emerge suggesting rate hikes for everything from cars to PlayStations.
We’re carefully monitoring the impact of President Donald Trump’s taxes on the costs of 11 well-known products, whether it’s your daily coffee or a new telefon. We’ve seen significant cost increases for the Xbox premier system thus far, but everything else has remained constant with the exception of sporadic oscillations that might not be tariff-related. That kind of consistency is far from certain, nevertheless, particularly with new information emerging that Apple might be looking to make smarttelefons more expensive this time.
The White House’s much-hyped agreement with China considerably reduced tariffs on their biggest trading spouse; however, the new 30 % rate is only temporary and also previously high; it only looks better next to the ridiculous 145 % rate that was in place. Companies are still admonishing as those discussions progress in order to cope with the new taxes, including Sony, which could potentially lead to a rate increase for its ever-popular PlayStation 5 devices.
We’ll get updating this article constantly as rates change. Be sure to check back every so often because it’s all about making sense of things. Methodology
We release the article and the important charts right away to reveal any changes in prices and are constantly checking prices. The following charts show a single bullet point for each month, with the most recent one labeled” Today” and showing the current rate. What was the most popular amount for each product in a given month has been our default for the past few decades.  ,
In most cases, the cost numbers used in these maps were pulled from Amazon using the traditional cost tracker device Keepa. The prices for the iPhones are based on the 128-gigabyte basic unit of the most recent offerings for the year: the iPhone 14, phone 15, and iPhone 16. TheXbox Series X’s costs were determined using the PriceTracker application at Best Buy. If any of these goods happen to be on sale at a given moment, we’ll be sure to let you know and discuss how those rate drops differ from longer-term sales trends that tariffs may cause.
The 11 products we’re monitoring
Along with a typical bag of coffee, a more modest item that isn’t produced in the US in any significant way, we’re mostly tracking electronic devices and digital items that CNET covers in depth, like iPhones and affordable 4K TVs.  ,
The items featured were chosen for a number of reasons: some of them are well-known and/or reasonably priced representatives of well-known and affordable consumer tech categories, such as smartphones, TVs, and game consoles. Other products are meant to represent items like printer ink and coffee beans that consumers might purchase more frequently. Some products were chosen over others because they are likely more susceptible to tariffs. Some of these products have received CNET’s approval or have been included in some of our top lists.
We’ll expand on each individual product’s details below.
iPhone 16
Since the iPhone is the most well-known brand of smartphones in the US, price tracking was a top priority. Given its popularity and susceptibility to import taxes, the iPhone has also become a major topic of conversation about tariffs, largely in China. Trump has reportedly been fixated on the idea that the iPhone can and should be manufactured in the US, an idea that experts have dismissed as a fantasy. Estimates have also suggested that a US-made iPhone could cost as much as$ 3,500.
In April, Apple shipped a large number of iPhones into the US to get a stockpile there before tariffs started to apply. In recent weeks, reports have indicated that the company is working on moving all manufacturing of US-bound iPhones , out of China to India to evade the worst of Trump’s tariff agenda. However, it’s also been reported that the iPhone 19, which is scheduled to be released in 2027, will need to stay in China because of the complexity of the design planned for the iPhone line’s 20th anniversary. Further reports emerged on May 12 that Apple plans to raise the price of the iPhone with the upcoming iPhone 17 line, but that it also intends to avoid attributing this to Trump’s tariffs.
Duracell AA batteries
Although many of the tech products in your home might have a rechargeable energy source, individual batteries are still a daily necessity, and I can tell you from experience that you’ll need to restock once you forget about them. The Duracell AAs we’re tracking are some of Amazon’s top-selling batteries.
Samsung DU7200 TV
Televisions are some of the most well-known tech products available, even if they’re only a few dollars apiece. Along with smartphones, they’re also some of the most well-known ones. This particular product is a well-known 4K TV and was CNET’s choice for best overall budget TV for 2025. Unlike a lot of tech products that have key supply lines in China, Samsung is a South Korean company, so it might have some measure of tariff resistance. This model has fluctuated in recent days between$ 400, where it has been for the majority of the year, and$ 470, where it is now. For the time being, these fluctuations don’t appear to be influenced by tariffs.
Xbox Series X
Video game software and hardware are a market segment expected to be hit hard by the Trump tariffs. Microsoft’s Xbox is the first console brand to see price hikes — the company cited “market conditions” along with the rising cost of development. Most notably, this included an increase in the price of the flagshipXbox Series X, up from $500 to $600. Numerous Xbox accessories were also affected, and the company also said that “certain” games will eventually see a price hike from $70 to $80.
As a first step in the development of the much more well-known Nintendo Switch, we initially were monitoring the price of it as a representative of the gaming industry. Nintendo has not yet hiked the price of its handheld-console hybrid and stressed that the$ 450 price tag of the upcoming Switch 2 has not yet been inflated because of tariffs. Sony, in contrast, has so far only increased prices for its PlayStation hardware in markets outside the US.
AirPods Pro 2
The latest iteration of Apple’s wildly popular true-wireless earbuds are here to represent the headphone market. Much to the chagrin of the audiophiles out there, a quick look at sales charts on Amazon shows you just how much the brand dominates all headphone sales. TheAirPods Pro 2have hovered steadily around $200 on Amazon in 2025, but were on sale for $169 the first few days of May before jumping back up.
HP 962 CMY printer ink
This HP printer ink is a combination of cyan, magenta, and yellow, and it recently saw a price increase of$ 72, which is roughly its highest level in the last five years. We’ll be monitoring to see if this is a gradual or gradual change.
This product replaced Overture PLA Filament for 3D printers in this piece, but we’re still tracking that item.
Anker 30-watt power bank with 10 000 mAh.
Anker’s accessories are a resolutely popular item in the tech market, and the company has already stated that some of its items will eventually become more expensive as a result of tariff increases. This specific product has also been featured in some of CNET’s lists of the best portable chargers. It is currently on sale for$ 16 on Amazon, but only for Prime members, despite the price having remained constant throughout the year.
Bose TV speaker
Soundbars have become important purchases, given the often iffy quality of the speakers built into TVs. The Bose TV Speaker is one of the more affordable soundbar options available, especially considering it comes from a company that is as well-known as Bose, despite not being the largest or best option in the market.
Oral-B Pro 1000 electric toothbrush
They might be a lot more expensive than their traditional counterparts, but electric toothbrushes remain a popular choice for consumers because of how well they get the job done. I am aware that my dentist will continue to prescribe one when I need one. CNET chose this particular Oral-B toothbrush as the top electric toothbrush of 2025 overall.
Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook
One of the major laptop manufacturers, Lenovo is known for being a Chinese company that makes its products particularly susceptible to Trump’s tariffs.
( 28-ounce bag ) Starbucks Ground Coffee
Coffee is included in this tracker because of its ubiquity– I’m certainly drinking too much of it these days– and because it’s uniquely susceptible to Trump’s tariff agenda. Known as the” Coffee Belt,” a tropical region largely outside the United States, limits the cultivation of coffee beans to a certain distance from the equator.
Hawaii is the only US state that can produce coffee beans, with data from USAFacts revealing that 11.5 million pounds of the crop there were harvested between 2022 and 2023, which is little more than a mug drop because the US consumed 282 times that much coffee during that time. Making matters worse, Hawaiian coffee production has declined in the past few years.
That said, Americans almost all of their coffee is produced abroad, making it one of the most likely products to see price increases result from tariff increases.
