With its innovative Life Translation have, language barriers appear to be lowering in Apple’s upcoming iOS 26.
After years of the business dabbling with language as its own software or via Siri, Life Translation will, as the name suggests, provide on-the-fly speech language across the Phone, Messages, and FaceTime apps in iOS 26. It will be unveiled during the agency’s WWDC 2025 lecture on Monday.

Following a somewhat sluggish rollout last year, the company’s latest effort to offer greater benefit from its Apple Intelligence AI systems is an AI-powered support.
Texts will be typed out in the patient’s desired language in Messages. You can quickly translate the messages you receive again.
Life Translation may provide captions in your desired language as you speak to someone else who is speaking a different language without affecting the other person’s voice when you are using FaceTiming. That’s in contrast to how it works when you make phone calls, which will have a spoken language next to the words of the people you’re speaking with.
Additionally, there is no need to repeat any of those iMessage worries, because Life Translation will function even when the recipient is not using an iPhone. But, for the time being, it’s mysterious which language and how many will be supported.
