President Donald Trump ramped up his conflicts with businesses over their emotions to his controversial tax agenda&nbsp, in the past few months. He demanded that Walmart cover the cost of the new trade taxes first, after the company claimed his prices would increase by the summertime owing to his trade taxes. To close out last month, he&nbsp, threatened Apple with a 25 % work on its items if it doesn’t move manufacturing to the US, a promise that has been widely dismissed as a dream. The president even threatened to impose a 50 % tax on the European Union, but he later brought that thought up to July after speaking with union industry representatives.

The simple truth of the situation is that tariffs are almost undoubtedly going to cause prices to climb and with this part I’ve been tracking just that: the normal effect of Trump’s tariffs on the prices of 11 favorite products you may want or need to purchase, whether it be a new&nbsp, telefon, , laptop&nbsp, or your daily&nbsp, cafea. We’ve seen significant price increases for the Xbox flagship console so far, but everything else has, according to Amazon, remained constant with the exception of sporadic changes that might not be tariff-related. That sort of consistency is far from certain, however, given the recent warnings from major retailers like&nbsp, Target&nbsp, and Walmart.

The White House’s most hyped tariff agreement with China significantly reduced tariffs on the country’s largest trading partner. The new 30 % rate is only temporary, however, and still historically high. It simply appears more reasonable than the ridiculous 145 % rate that was in place. As those negotiations move along, companies continue to warn of impending price hikes to deal with the new tariffs, including Sony, which could potentially mean a price hike for its ever-popular PlayStation 5 consoles.

In most cases, the price stats used in these graphs were pulled from Amazon using the historical price-tracker tool Keepa. The prices for the iPhones are based on the 128-gigabyte base model of the most recent offerings for the year: the iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16. For theXbox 360 Series X, the prices were sourced from Best Buy using the tool PriceTracker. If any of these items are going to be on sale at any particular time, we’ll be sure to let you know and explain how these price drops can cause longer-term pricing trends, such as tariffs.

We’ll expand on each individual product below.

iPhone 16

Since the iPhone is the most well-known brand of smartphones in the US, price tracking was a top priority. The iPhone has also emerged as a major focal point for conversations about tariffs, given its popularity and its susceptibility to import taxes because of its overseas production, largely in China. Trump reportedly has a fixation on the notion that the iPhone can and should be produced in the US, a notion that experts have dismissed as a fantasy. Estimates have also suggested that a US-made iPhone would cost as much as$ 3, 500.

The price shown on this graph is what you’ll see if you purchase your phone from a major carrier, though. If you, say, buy direct from Apple or Best Buy without a carrier involved, you’ll be charged an extra$ 30, so in some places, you might see the list price of the standard iPhone 16 listed as$ 830.

Apple has taken several actions this year to keep its prices as low as possible in the US, including arranging bulk shipments of goods before the tariffs go into effect and working to move production from China to India, where tariff rates are lower. This latter move provoked a response from Trump, given his noted fixation on the iPhone, saying last week that he “had a little problem” with Tim Cook over the move, claiming without evidence that the Apple CEO pledged to bring more manufacturing to the US. Cook and others who have worked with the company for years contend that moving manufacturing to the US is too difficult. &nbsp,

Trump threatened a 25 % fine against Apple products if it didn’t relocate its manufacturing to the US this week. How that will play out is still unclear, but notably, foreign-made iPhones with 25 % tax would still probably be much cheaper than iPhones predominantly made in the US.
