
The$ 20 billion merger between Verizon and Frontier Communications has been approved by the FCC. This federal bureau authorization may enable Verizon to considerably increase its grain achieve and subscriber base, which are currently restricted primarily to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. Verizon will update and expand Frontier‘s existing network in 25 states, which will also allow for greater community access and potential to pass through AT&’s T fibre, its online rival.

The Midwest will mainly be served by the new fibre optic service from Verizon, but coverage will also extend to California, Texas, and Florida. Clients from Verizon may soon join their offerings. ” The deal will destroy billions of dollars in new equipment builds in communities across the country, including rural America,” said commission chair Brendan Carr in a speech.  ,
As part of the assent, Verizon made a commitment to end DEI-related policies. Carr criticized Verizon earlier this year for failing to achieve DEI elimination.
