According to fresh study findings from the Pew Research Center, one in five Americans claim to have never heard of the conceptual AI tool ChatGPT, while one in three claim to have used it.
58 % of people under 30 claim to have used the general AI device from OpenAI, which is the largest share among any age group. With age, the share of ChatGPT users declines: 41 % of those aged 30 to 49, 25 % of those aged 50 to 64, and 10 % of those over 65. Additionally, about half of adults with bachelor’s or post-graduate degrees reported using the application because there is a relationship with knowledge. Only 33 % of those with college degrees and 18 % of those with at least a high school diploma said the same thing. ( Disclosure: CNET’s parent company, Ziff Davis, sued OpenAI in April, alleging that it violated Ziff Davis ‘ copyrights when it was running and training its AI systems. )
In the last couple of years, the use of ChatGPT and another general AI tools has increased significantly. At the end of 2022, ChatGPT gained a lot of fans and has since become a family name. According to the Pew poll, ChatGPT usage has nearly doubled among American adults since July 2023. However, ChatGPT is not the only instrument of its kind. Other software companies have created their own big language models, such as Llama and Gemini from Google.  ,
The results of a panel of 5, 123 adults who were surveyed from February 24 through March 2 in the Pew poll demonstrate how people have become adept at using these tools, which you write documents and provide answers that are comparable to those found in search results ( though perhaps not quite as accurate ). 22 % of adults who work at the office said they used it for entertainment, 26 % said they used it to learn new things, and 28 % said they used it for entertainment.  ,
In addition, according to other new Pew research, some American workers were concerned about the potential negative effects of using AI at work. Other studies have shown that even with the prevalence of AI in the workplace, it has cultural effects, as coworkers and managers may criticize those who admit to using it.  ,
Not everyone, of course, uses these resources. According to the Pew benefits, 20 % of people are unaware of ChatGPT. The figure is highest for those over the age of 65 ( 33 % ) or those with fewer than a high school diploma ( 34 % )  ,
