Hwang Dong-hyuk, the inventor of Squid Game, has revealed that period 3 about had a completely different ending. This could have worked better for fans who were still divided over how the hit series ended up.

Hwang said in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he had previously written an ending where Player 456, Seong Gi-hun, leaves the fatal sports behind for the time being. That contrasts significantly with the type that was released on television, in which Gi-hun sacrifices his existence in the end in exchange for the new Player 222.

Hwang claimed that his initial concept for the Netflix line was much more optimistic. The main character of the sport, Gi-hun, may have left his daughter in the US and left the game.

” I had a hazy idea about how I did wrap up the story at first. And it was having Gi-hun end the game in some way and therefore left alive and visit his daughter in America, according to Hwang. But I initially assumed that the witness of the American manager woman would be Gi-hun.

Hwang said the plot grew as the movie’s overall message and present circumstances shifted. He said,” I was witnessing more and more of what was happening around the world,” and he finally decided that Gi-hun’s surrender should have a more profound significance.

According to Hwang,” I thought it was more appropriate for Gi-hun to take this powerful and profound message to the world,” adding that the darker conclusion was intended to reflect the need for immediate sacrifices in the modern world to ensure a better potential.
