The Galaxy Unpacked celebration is less than 24 hours apart, and I anticipate seeing Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, as well as innovative Galaxy Watches. But the great amazement might be the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, a more economical version of Samsung’s common polycarbonate.

So how will Samsung react? The July 9 Galaxy Unpacked event will be a pivotal moment for the South Korean company. Many critics want Samsung to match Chinese foldable phones in terms of the Galaxy Fold line or to do better. However, there is also growing curiosity about what the company is doing with AI and health and wellness monitoring, particularly in relation to the Galaxy smartwatches.

Rumors, leaks and even some teases straight from Samsung show that the company is ready to meet the moment with an exciting array of foldables phones, including a brand-new budget version of its clamshell flip phone as well as updates to its smartwatch line.

Ultra Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

Samsung has released provocative press releases over the past few weeks in an effort to spread the word about the new Ultra-like camera and the Galaxy Fold 7. A Galaxy Z Fold is silhouetted in a video released under the title” Meet the Next Chapter of Ultra” and features swooping sound effects from the phone opening and closing.

These teases are vague at best, but could mean that there are multiple Galaxy Z Fold phones. A report from 91mobiles claims that the Ultra variant will have a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. If Samsung’s tease is accurate, and similar to the 200-MP camera on the Galaxy S25 Edge, the main camera might be truly flagship-worthy. There could be a slim version of the Fold that would be the” the thinnest, lightest and most advanced foldable yet”. The Fold 7 Slim, let’s call it that, will have the same Snapdragon processor or an Exynos one, is undetermined.

What if the Fold 7 Ultra and Fold 7 Slim are interchangeable phones? That might be the reality.

Noted leaker and blogger Evan Blass shared photos in his newsletter of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. The unreleased phone is displayed in three different shades: jet black, silver, and blue. The version in blue looks amazing.

The photos of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are at different angles and really make it look thin. The Galaxy S25 Edge evokes strong emotions from the camera bump because it is quite far out. One of the images shows a camera cutout at the top of the main screen, which could indicate that Samsung is switching away from the Fold’s under-display camera.

There are conflicting reports that the Z Fold 7 will have larger 8-inch main displays. If that’s the case, it’s difficult to tell from the PR teases from Samsung or the Blass photos.

Of course, the other major consideration when it comes to the Galaxy Z Fold is the price. Last year, Samsung raised the price of the Fold 6 to$ 1, 900. It’s difficult to predict what US prices will be given the threat of tariffs and general uncertainty surrounding the economy.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Flip 7 FE

Motorola found a clever way to deal with the high cost of foldable phones by providing a number of Razr variants, including one that starts at$ 700. And like Motorola, Samsung could have not one but two Z Flip phones this year. A Z Flip 7 and a more affordable Z Flip 7 FE are likely to be available, and FE stands for fan edition if you’re not a Samsung stan.

According to a post from Weibo user Setsuna Digital, the Z Flip 7 will have a larger 4. 1-inch cover screen, similar to the 4-inch one on the Motorola Razr Ultra. Of course, if that’s the case, it’s going to be exciting to see how Samsung will take advantage of the extra space. Thankfully, Blass also shared leaked images of the Z Flip 7 in coral red, jet black, and blue shadow. Without Samsung’s file folder tab cutout, the cover screen appears enormous.

But it’s on the inside where things get interesting. Samsung released its Exynos 2500 processor a few weeks ago, which might be what powers the Galaxy Z Flip 7?

According to Blass’ leaked photos, there is a chance of a Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, which looks like a repackaged Galaxy Z Flip 6 with a 3. 4-inch cover screen. And if the Z Flip 7 FE is supposed to be Samsung’s more affordable clamshell phone, I have to imagine that the processor will be a step down, too.

Will Samsung charge the same$ 700 price as Motorola’s standard Razr for the Z Flip 7 FE? We’ll learn soon.

Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic

Sometimes Samsung teases and other times it just tell us what to expect. Dr. Hon Pak, Samsung’s senior vice president and head of digital health, spoke with Vanessa Hand Orellana of CNET about the company’s plans for its wearables, which are geared toward personalized coaching, detecting aging signs, and a new blood analysis feature that you can use without a needle right from your wrist. The update is a component of a wider effort to aid people in battling chronic illness.

But Pak didn’t give away everything. How many watches will Samsung release, it’s not clear. The Galaxy Watch 8 could just be the Watch 7 from the previous year. There could be a Galaxy Watch 8 Classic and also a new color for the Galaxy Watch Ultra. According to a report from SammyGuru, the batteries in the watches are expanding. I’m a big fan of the Watch 8 Classic with its rotating bezel, the Watch 8 Classic with its rotating bezel, and an updated version of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which Glass shared leaked images for three watches.

There’s no word on pricing, but it’s great to see Samsung really transform its watches with more of these wellness and health features.

Final thoughts on Galaxy Unpacked

None of this is for certain until Samsung actually releases its products, and the majority of what I’ve said here is based on rumors and leaks. Additionally, it’ll be interesting to see if any updates for the Galaxy Ring have been released ( even if they’re just software ) or if Samsung will demonstrate its Project Moohan headset. Remember, this is likely Samsung’s last big event for the year and we’ll be on top of all the announcements.
