As Walmart, the largest food chain in the country, has emerged as the most recent and perhaps most effective business to warn of oncoming price increases brought on by the administration’s import taxes, President Donald Trump’s tariff policies may be having a bad summer for many US consumers. The firm said that these increases are “inevitable” due to the circumstances.
During a conference call for the nation’s largest grocery store chain, CEO Doug McMillon said,” We will do our best to keep our rates as low as possible. ” But given the magnitude of the taxes, even at the reduced rates announced this week, we aren’t able to capture all the tension given the fact of small retail margins,” said one analyst.
This prompted a heated reaction from the president, who said in a post to Truth Social that the ring should have the expenses of the taxes instead of passing them onto consumers, a strategy that’s not likely to gain much earth with most businesses, also Goliaths like Walmart. The administration previously criticized Amazon for reports that they were thinking about showing customers what percentage of their purchase prices were affected by tariffs, calling the idea a “hostile and political act” The Trump White House has generally been very vocal in opposition to the idea that businesses might come forward and say that the president’s tariffs have caused price inflation, which, as I’ve stated before on CNET, is absolutely true.
In this article, I’ve been tracking the daily effect of , Trump’s tariffs on the prices of 11 popular products you might want or need to buy, whether it be a new , phone,  , laptop , or your daily , coffee. We’ve seen significant price increases for the Xbox flagship console so far, but everything else has remained constant with the exception of sporadic fluctuations that might not be tariff-related. However, that consistency is largely unattainable, especially given recent reports suggesting that Apple might be looking to increase the price of iPhones this year.
Below, you can check out a chart with the average price of the 11 included items over the course of 2025. This will help you understand how much money is changing in general and how much money is fluctuating. Further down, you’ll be able to view the charts for each individual product being tracked.
The recent tariff agreement with China, much-hyped by the White House, did significantly cut tariff rates against the US’s biggest trading partner. However, the new 30 % rate is only temporary and still historically high. It simply appears more reasonable than the ridiculous 145 % rate that was in place. As those negotiations move along, companies continue to warn of impending price hikes in order to deal with the new tariffs, including Sony, which could potentially mean a price hike for its ever-popular PlayStation 5 consoles.
As prices change, we’ll keep updating this article regularly. Be sure to check back every so often because it’s all in the name of making sense of things. Methodology
We’re checking prices daily and will update the article and the relevant charts right away to reflect any changes. The most recent of the following charts, which is marked” Now,” and displays the current price, displays a single bullet point for each month. What was the most common price for each item in a given month has been our default for the past few months.  ,
The historical price tracker tool Keepa was used to obtain the data used in these graphs in the majority of cases from Amazon. The prices for the iPhones are based on the 128-gigabyte base model of the most recent offerings for the year: the iPhone 14, iPhone 15, and iPhone 16. They are based on Apple’s official materials. For theXbox Series X, the prices were sourced from Best Buy using the tool PriceTracker. If any of these goods are going to be on sale at a specific time, we’ll make sure to let you know and explain how these price drops differ from longer-term pricing trends that tariffs may have.
The 11 products we’re monitoring
Mostly what we’re tracking in this article are electronic devices and digital items that CNET covers in depth, like , iPhones , and affordable 4K TVs– along with a typical bag of coffee, a more humble product that isn’t produced in the US to any significant degree.  ,
The items featured were chosen for a number of reasons: some of them are well-known and/or reasonably priced representatives of well-known and affordable consumer tech categories, such as smartphones, TVs, and game consoles. Others are meant to represent things that consumers might buy more frequently, like printer ink or coffee beans. Some goods were chosen over others because they are likely to be more prone to tariffs. Some of these products have received CNET’s approval or have been included in some of our top lists.
Below, we’ll get into more about each individual product.
iPhone 16
Since the iPhone is the most well-known brand of smartphones in the US, price tracking was a top priority. The iPhone has also emerged as a major focal point for conversations about tariffs, given its popularity and its susceptibility to import taxes because of its overseas production, largely in China. Trump reportedly has a fixation on the notion that the iPhone can and should be produced in the US, a notion that experts have dismissed as a fantasy. Estimates have also suggested that the US could sell for as much as$ 3,500.
Apple has made several moves this year to protect its prices in the US as much as possible, like flying in bulk shipments of product ahead of the tariffs taking effect and working to move production for the American market from China to India, where tariff rates are less severe. Given his noted fixation on the iPhone, Trump responded with this statement, saying on Thursday that he “had a little problem” with Tim Cook over the decision and that he didn’t have any proof that the Apple CEO had promised to increase manufacturing in the US. Cook and other employees who have worked for the company for years contend that the supply chains for its goods are too complicated to relocate manufacturing entirely to the US.
Duracell AA batteries
Although many of the tech products in your home might have a rechargeable energy source, individual batteries are still a daily necessity, and I can tell you from experience that you’ll need to restock once you forget about them. Some of the bestseller batteries on Amazon are the Duracell AAs we’re tracking.
Samsung DU7200 TV
Televisions are among the most well-known tech products available, even if they aren’t frequently purchased. This particular product is a well-known 4K TV that was chosen by CNET as the best overall budget TV for 2025. Unlike a lot of tech products that have key supply lines in China, Samsung is a South Korean company, so it might have some measure of tariff resistance. This model has fluctuated in recent days from$ 400, where it has been for the majority of the year, to$ 470, where it is now. For the time being, these fluctuations don’t appear to be influenced by tariffs.
Xbox Series X
Video game software and hardware are a market segment expected to be hit hard by the Trump tariffs. Microsoft’s Xbox is the first console brand to see price hikes — the company cited “market conditions” along with the rising cost of development. Most notably, this included an increase in the price of the flagshipXbox Series X, up from $500 to $600. Numerous Xbox accessories were also affected, and the company also said that “certain” games will eventually see a price hike from $70 to $80.
As a first step in the development of the much more well-known Nintendo Switch, we initially were monitoring the price of it as a representative of the gaming industry. Nintendo has not yet hiked the price of its handheld-console hybrid and stressed that the$ 450 price tag of the upcoming Switch 2 has not yet been inflated because of tariffs. Sony, in contrast, has only recently raised prices for its PlayStation hardware in markets outside the US.
AirPods Pro 2
The latest iteration of Apple’s wildly popular true-wireless earbuds are here to represent the headphone market. Much to the chagrin of the audiophiles out there, a quick look at sales charts on Amazon shows you just how much the brand dominates all headphone sales. TheAirPods Pro 2have hovered steadily around $200 on Amazon in 2025, but were on sale for $169 the first few days of May before jumping back up.
HP 962 CMY printer ink
This HP printer ink is made up of cyan, magenta, and yellow all in one package, and it recently saw its price increase from about$ 72, which is about its highest level in the last five years. We’ll be monitoring this to see if it’s a long-term change or a quick increase.
This product replaced Overture PLA Filament for 3D printers in this piece, but we’re still tracking that item.
Anker 30-watt power bank with 10 000-mAh.
Anker has already stated that some of its products will soon become more expensive as a result of tariff increases, despite the company’s long-standing popularity for its accessories in the tech industry. This specific product has also been featured in some of CNET’s lists of the best portable chargers. Although the price has remained constant throughout the year, it is currently available for$ 16 on Amazon, but only for Prime members.
Bose TV speaker
Soundbars have become important purchases, given the often iffy quality of the speakers built into TVs. The Bose TV Speaker is one of the more affordable soundbar options available, especially considering it comes from a brand as well-known as Bose, even though it isn’t the biggest or best option in the space.
Electric toothbrushes like the Oral-B Pro 1000
They might be a lot more expensive than their traditional counterparts, but electric toothbrushes remain a popular choice for consumers because of how well they get the job done. I am aware that my dentist will continue to prescribe one when I need one. This particular Oral-B toothbrush was CNET’s overall pick for the best electric toothbrush in 2025.
Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook
One of the major laptop manufacturers, Lenovo is known for being a Chinese company that makes its products particularly susceptible to Trump’s tariffs.
Starbucks Ground Coffee ( 28-ounce bag )
Coffee is included in this tracker because of its ubiquity– I’m certainly drinking too much of it these days– and because it’s uniquely susceptible to Trump’s tariff agenda. Known as the” Coffee Belt,” a tropical region largely outside the United States, limits the cultivation of coffee beans to a certain distance from the equator.
Hawaii is the only US state that can produce coffee beans, with data from USAFacts revealing that 11.5 million pounds of the crop there were harvested between 2022 and 2023, which is little more than a mug drop because the US consumed 282 times that much coffee during that time. Making matters worse, Hawaiian coffee production has declined in the past few years.
All that said, Americans almost all of their coffee is produced abroad, making it one of the most likely products to see price increases as a result of tariffs.
