I reviewed Roku’s Streambar SE late last month, and I wrote about my experiences with it. However, now that it is receiving a great cheap for Amazon’s Memorial Day Sale, I thought I would show it once more. Over the years, I’ve tried a lot of Roku’s movie streamers, but I’ve never tried one of its Streambars, which combines a little soundbar with Roku’s entry-level 4K HDR channel. Streambar SE, a 2024 little soundbar, is now available, which was on sale from Routledge because of its small price. Streambar SE is no longer available. It’s currently only$ 73 at Amazon for Memorial Day, or 27 % off. That’s about twice the refund we saw during the Big Spring sale at Amazon. &nbsp,

I actually mean little when I say small soundbar. The Streambar SE weighs 2 pounds (907 grams ) and is about the size of a small Bluetooth speaker. It is 3. 4 inches in diameter by 3. 4 inches in height. It should be used in addition to your main life room TV ( sorry, unless you have a little living space ), as well as a smaller TV in your home, office, or bedroom area. It’s a nice switch from my Screens built-in speakers, and I hooked it up to an ancient 42-inch Vizio I have in my business.

My Roku Streambar SE configuration

Installation is simple: Connecting any movie channel to your TV is essentially the same as doing so, but it’s helpful to have an HDMI-ARC slot for simplicity. ( Most TVs made in the last ten to twelve years have an HDMI port designated HDMI ARC or HDMI eARC. ) There is a solution for using an HDMI cord and an optical wires if you don’t have ARC, but I didn’t have to deal with that.

An improvement over the tone of my TV’s listeners.

I have Spectrum Television, and Roku has a Spectrum TV app that enables you to use any Roku channel as a cable TV package. I watched a few action films, including Ant-Man and Nope, as well as NFL Redzone, CNN, and a few episodes of a Friends show for my listening exam. I was surprised by the volume of sound this much speech was able to produce, perhaps because my objectives were small. The speaker can be connected to Roku’s Wireless Bass subwoofer if you want more bass, but the separate sub will cost you$ 130.

I didn’t say that the Streambar SE has the widest soundstage or that there is much sound separation. It can be combined with Roku’s wireless rear speakers to create a surround system, but it does not have the side-firing speakers of the step-up Streambar ($ 130 ), which won a CNET Editors ‘ Choice award in 2023. However, the quality is sufficient to make you feel like you got a good deal, especially if you already spent about$ 30 on Roku’s Express 4K Plus or Streaming Stick 4K.

You have a dozen templates to choose from when it comes to sound settings, including Dialogue, Movie, Music, Night, and Standard, and the speaker may lower the volume when quiet advertisement occur. Additionally, the soundbar has Bluetooth, which allows you to connect headphones, along with Spotify Connect, Apple and AirPlay assistance.

The bundled distant, which enables words command and voice search, is no Roku’s more fundamental distant and not its step-up voice remote, which enables voice control and voice search. But, Roku’s mobile app for iOS and Android is available for download, which does support words signals.

The Streambar SE supports 4K HDR10 and HDR10 Plus video streaming, but it doesn’t have Dolby Vision help. The Streambar SE’s video streaming features are more than enough for my previous Vizio, which isn’t actually 4K Television.

The Streambar SE’s more compact size and affordable price tag, especially for those of us looking to upgrade the sound of a smaller TV, perhaps an older model like mine, are notable advantages over Roku’s step-up Streambar ($ 130 ).
