At Summer Game Fest, I played Resident Evil 9 Requiem, and it was incredibly messed up.

Citizen Evil Requiem, the seventh installment in the major Citizen Evil series, was teased and subsequently announced during this year’s Summer Game Fest event. Members of the press had the opportunity to sit down and receive a guided demonstration of the future horror game during the media-only Play Times events. Nevertheless, a very small group of people, including myself, had the chance to interact with the video and fight for our existence. Capcom’s upcoming film in the series feels like it’s going for Resident Evil 7’s slow, susceptible terror, in contrast to the run-and-gun dread of Resident Evil Village.

The US government’s efforts to end Resident Evil 3’s monster disease have resulted in nuclear damage, which the US government has now recreated in Raccoon City. Grace Ashcroft, the fresh character in RE9, was strapped back down to a stretcher and appeared very haughty in the preview. She obviously has been through a lot, as evidenced by the numerous needles and health supplies she has connected to as well as the impressive graphics technology on display when showcasing her character model. The information on her hair and experience, as well as the breath she has soaked in, are all very impressive.

Grace was able to crack a bottle as the starting cutscene progressed, edge over the gurney, and then stand up and give the player control. You start exploring this filthy place and the extremely black hallway that are connected to it in the first-person demo for the game. One of the attendees screamed “nope” at the thought of going outside during the theatre display.

As a wind rages outside with unnerving thunder and flashes of lightning through the windows, this first portion of the game takes place in some sort of deserted hospital aircraft. The only light in is a few dimly lit dark bulbs, which don’t help to relieve the pressure. The second fork in the road leads to either a pitch-black room or a lengthy, dim doorway. When I watched the demonstration, people were noisily squirming in their chairs in a theatre with an engaged audience. Turning on the light in the corridor leads to an unusual horse monument at the end of it, which, due to the distance and its bizarre shape, almost sounded like a minor jump scare.

It’s one thing to watch a theatre performance of people walking down a dark doorway, but it’s another thing to do it yourself. And even though I was the first to know the major components of this experience from the beginning, it also raised my heart rate when I had to fumble around in the black hoping I’m safe.

Then you browse through a couple of rooms, where you can find things like an empty, throwable drink and, more important, a lighter. There wasn’t a weapon to be found, unlike the most recent Native Evil Village, though. It seems more like Capcom is channeling the despair of Resident Evil 7’s first chapters, with an emphasis on riddles. The end goal was a sealed gate, but we also needed to locate a wire, which was a little further than a screwed-shut section.

It was now possible to travel back to the pitch black room from the forked path before, this time with a little lighter to guard us. The biggest leap fear in the video and the biggest screams during the theatre display were caused by opening the one door at the end of the room. When Grace remarks that he has been “infected,” a useless doctor steps out of the lock next to him. Fortunately, he wasn’t a monster at this point because I couldn’t get anything resembling a weapon other than a bottle.

The demo’s best feature was finally revealed. A large beast-like claw seized the dead without the camera moving. A great animal and human composite monster cry and devour the body before getting much, much too close to the camera to show off its terrible teeth and hideous face. The camera follows the body. Another excellent illustration of how total and great RE9 appears. The market screamed.

I’m glad I watched the drama display before doing the hands-on because it gave me some advice on how to proceed and where to run and hide from the thing. You’ll have to wait to find out for yourself what the monster’s faults are, though. I had access to the room it came from by running through the corridors ( at a much slower rate than my heart rate ) and avoiding the dragon. In this case, you can move a ostensibly loud rolling cart to the top of a table and get a screwdriver. The thing hears and walks by the nearby windows as you move the vehicle, raising the stress.

The dragon reappears at the only return when the monster tries to leave the room. I had to conceal my lighter under a desk and sneak past the dragon before leaving the room to enjoy cunning. I made my way up to the locked fuse panel with the hammer in side. Sadly, the monster appears straight before me and smashes through a roof. The lion will grab Grace up and smack her in the back if you are grabbed ( which I did a few times ). You must resist one of these before the next attack will destroy you. Thankfully, you could save yourself from a few maulings by having one wellness get up at this clinic.

After kiting around the army once more during the drama presentation, the programmer paused the sport and entered the settings. As the group began to whisper about what was happening, they moved on to the screen options. &nbsp,

Then came the great reveal: The programmer changed the camera’s first-person position to a third-person one. The crowd roared in yells of encouragement. Finally, we were told that the activity could be played from both points of view throughout the entire game, and it was immediately changed. The majority of the speech was delivered in third-person.

After this stage, the video was largely done. Just before the dragon reaches you, you can open the gate and obtain the wire before escaping. Ultimately, this collection was a lot of fun to watch first, but it became even more tense as I practiced playing it myself.

It was a truly amazing video with a few smart puzzles for the person to solve. You’ll discover clues and tips to aid you in your exit if you can fully examine the restricted space. I personally definitely enjoyed the terrible and visual manner they introduced the lion. Although the video was only a minimal amount, it undoubtedly created a lot of expectation for the game. Capcom appears to be ready to release yet another strong installment of the company once more.

Resident Evil Requiem is scheduled for release on February 27, 2026, for the Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and Computers.
