The Global Research and Development Center for Business ( GRCB) by Quantum-AI Technology (G-QUAT ), which houses ABCI-Q, the largest research supercomputer in the world, is being inaugurated by Nvidia.

Quantum processors are expected to help AI supercomputers overcome some of the world’s most challenging issues, spanning sectors like financing, power, and healthcare. Nvidia claimed that ABCI-Q makes a significant step forward toward the development of practical, accelerated classical systems by enabling quantum-GPU technology at an unprecedented level.

The ABCI-Q supercomputer, which was provided by Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology ( AIST ), has 2, 020 Nvidia H100 graphics processing units ( GPUs ) that are connected via the Nvidia Quantum-2 InfiniBand networking platform.

For the purpose of running important, massive-scale quantum technology software, the system is integrated with Nvidia CUDA-Q, an open-source hybrid technology program.

The seamless integration of AI computation and classical electronics will make it easier for everyone to realize the benefits of quantum computing, according to Tim Costa, senior chairman of computer-aided engineering, quantum and CUDA-XTM at Nvidia. ” Nvidia’s cooperation with AIST will lead to improvement in fields like quantum error correction and application development, which are essential for creating useful, accelerated classical microprocessors,” says Nvidia.

The integration of ABCI-Q’s AI multiprocessor with a super qubit processor from Fujitsu, a natural atom quantum processor from QuEra, and a nanostructured processor from OptQC makes it possible to use hybrid quantum-GPU workloads across a variety of qubit modalities.

According to Masahiro Horibe, deputy director of G-QuAT and AIST,” ABCI-Q may permit researchers in Japan to explore the fundamental problems quantum computing systems face and accelerate the way to practical use circumstances.” The Nvidia accelerated computing system in ABCI-Q may enable scientists to conduct research on the stepping-stone methods required to advance quantum computing.
