I’m eagerly anticipating Apple’s reaction at the WWDC function in a few days now that Google has demonstrated what its Gemini AI systems can do at Google I/O. But even though Gemini seems like it’s lapping Apple Intelligence, the , iPhone , AI software is important in a number of methods.  ,
I spent some time figuring out which of the most recent Apple Intelligence attributes I really use. They aren’t always the showy people, like , Image Playground, but types that help in little, important ways. Although Apple Intelligence has had a rough begin, from misleading message summaries to interrupted Siri improvements, the AI technology is far from a failure.  ,
If you have a suitable iPhone– an , phone 15 Pro,  , phone 16E,  , phone 16,  , iPhone 16 Pro , ( or their Plus and Max variants )– I want to promote six features that I’m turning to almost every day.
As technology develops, more features may be added, but keep in mind that Apple is still beta testing its AI, which is where it is just beginning.
On the other hand, are you disappointed with Apple’s knowledge or would you rather use it while the instruments develop? You can easily switch off Apple Intelligence completely or employ a smaller set of characteristics.
Get informed about concern messages
Although this feature was just released lately, it has quickly grown in popularity. When a warning arrives that seems like it could be more important than others, Prioritize Notifications pops it to the top of the warning listing on the lock screen ( with a beautiful Apple Intelligence shimmer, of training ). In my opinion, these include weather emails, texts from people I frequently text, and emails that contain dates or call-to-action.
To help it, come to Settings >, Notifications >, Prioritize Notifications, and activate the solution there. You can also help or delete focus alerts from specific programs from the same screen. You’re letting the AI techniques decide what becomes a goal, but it seems to be getting off to a good start.
Summaries provide TL and Mr for your letter
What was I saying, in an era where there are so many demands on our interest and it seems like there isn’t much time to devote to greater topics?
Oh, correctly: How often have you wanted a” too much, didn’t read” version of not just long messages but the fire line of contact that blows your way? Perhaps the most prevalent and least aggressive feature of Apple Intelligence so far is the ability to describe notifications, emails, and internet pages.
The phone creates a brief, one-sentence conclusion when a warning arrives, such as a message from a friend or group in Communications.
Often reports are vague and other times they’re unknowingly funny, but overall I’ve found them to be more beneficial than never. Summaries can also be generated from alerts by third-party apps like information or social media apps– although I suspect that my exterior security cameras is picking up various pedestrians over time and never telling me that 10 people are stacked by the door.
That said, Apple Intelligence definitely doesn’t understand sarcasm or colloquialisms– you can turn summaries off if you prefer.
In the Mail app, you can create a longer summary of emails by tapping the” Summarize” button at the top of a message to see a rundown of the contents in a few hundred words.
Tap the Page Menu button in the address bar, tap Show Reader, and then tap the Summary button at the top of the page in Safari when viewing a page with the Reader feature enabled.
Summarize long articles in Safari in the Reader interface.
Siri experiences better interaction and a glow-up.
I was amused during the iOS 18 and the iPhone 16 releases that the main visual indicator of Apple Intelligence– the full-screen, color-at-the-edges Siri animation– was noticeably missing. Apple used a Siri search to illuminate the edges of the enormous glass cube in its New York City store.
iOS 18 chose to use the obedient Siri sphere instead. Now, the modern Siri look has arrived as of iOS 18.1, but only on devices that support Apple Intelligence. I can suggest some steps to activate the new experience if you’re still unsure of why you’re using the old interface.
There are a few changes to Siri’s interface that come with the new look, including saying the wrong word or interjecting yourself mid-thought. Additionally, listening after receiving results is a plus, so you can ask pertinent follow-up questions.
However, the ability to personalize answers based on what Apple Intelligence knows about you is still down the road. What did iOS 18.2’s integration of ChatGPT make it possible to use it as a backup source of information? If Siri doesn’t immediately respond to your query, you are asked if you’d rather use ChatGPT instead. You don’t need a ChatGPT account to take advantage of this ( but if you do have one, you can sign in ).
Invoke Siri quietly without triggering the devices of everyone else.
The ability to bring up the assistant without saying the words” Hey Siri” loudly is probably one of my favorite new Siri features. In my house, where I have HomePods and my family members use their own iPhones and iPads, I never know which device is going to answer my call ( even though they’re supposed to be smart enough to work it out ).
Plus, let’s be honest, even after all this time, I’m not always comfortable using my phone, especially in public. I don’t want to add to the chaos by making Siri requests because it’s annoying enough when people use speaker to carry on phone conversations.
Instead, I turn to a new feature called Tap to Siri. Tap the Siri search bar and on-screen keyboard on the bottom of the iPhone or iPad to launch the search bar.  ,
Double-tap the bar at the bottom of the screen to bring up a voice-free Siri search.
On a Mac, go to System Settings > Apple Intelligence & Siri and select a key combination from the keyboard shortcut . Press either Command Key Twice.
Yes, this involves more typing work than just speaking conversationally, but I can enter more specific queries and not wonder if my robot friend is understanding what I’m saying.
Use Clean Up in the Photos app to get rid of any distracting elements from your photos.
The iPhone and iPad’s Photos app didn’t have a straightforward retouch feature until iOS 18.1. Dust on the camera lens? stuttering on the ground Sorry, but you must deal with those and other annoyances using a third-party app like the Photos app on MacOS.
Now Apple Intelligence includes Clean Up, an AI-enhanced removal tool, in the Photos app. When you edit an image and tap the Clean Up button, the iPhone examines the image and suggests possible items to remove by highlighting them. Use generative AI to fill in plausible pixels in a circle or tap one around an area. The app removes those areas and uses generative AI to erase them.
Remove distractions in the Photos app using Clean Up.
Clean Up isn’t flawless in this first iteration, and other skilled image editors will frequently produce better results. But for quickly removing annoyances from photos, it’s fine.
With the AI-enhanced Reduce Interruptions Focus mode, you can focus on your tasks.
The iPhone’s focus modes can be very helpful, like turning on Do Not Disturb to protect yourself from outside distractions. You can also create personalized Focus modes. For instance, during recorded recording times, my podcast recording mode blocks outside notifications from people other than a select few.
A new Reduce Interruptions Focus mode is available when Apple Intelligence is enabled. When active, it becomes a smarter filter for what gets past the wall holding back superfluous notifications. Even items like specific people that are not in your list of permitted notifications might pop up. For instance, when a significant purchase or money transfer occurs on my iPhone, it might include weather alerts or bank texts.
To enable it, open Control Center, tap the Focus button , and choose Reduce Interruptions.  ,
