I&#039, s Daily Tax Value Tracker: I&#039, m Keeping Track of Modifications as Trump&#039, s Trade Policies Shift, CNET&#039,

In the past several weeks, President Donald Trump has stepped up his conflicts with businesses over their reactions to his controversial price agenda&nbsp. For example, he demanded that Walmart eat the cost of the new trade taxes after the organization said its rates may go up by the summertime &nbsp, because of his trade fees. He&nbsp threatened Apple with a 25 % work on its items if it didn’t move its production to the US, a promise that was widely refuted as a story to close out next year. After speaking with coalition business members, the leader also threatened to impose a 50 % tax on the European Union.

The simple truth of the situation is that tariffs are almost undoubtedly going to cause prices to climb and with this part I’ve been tracking just that: the normal effect of Trump’s tariffs on the prices of 11 favorite products you may want or need to purchase, whether it be a new&nbsp, telefon, &nbsp, laptop&nbsp, or your daily&nbsp, coffee. We’ve seen significant cost increases for the Xbox lineup console thus far, but everything else has, according to Amazon, remained constant with the exception of sporadic changes that might not be tariff-related. Given the recent instructions from big stores like Walmart, Target, and Starbucks, that kind of consistency is not certain, though.

Wired Price Tracker Index

Below, you can view a map that shows the average cost of the 11 things that are included over the course of 2025. This will help you understand how much money is changing in general and how things are fluctuating. Farther along, you’ll be able to check out tables for each specific item being tracked.

A recent price agreement with China, which the White House had been eager to promote, considerably reduced tariff rates against the US’s largest trading partner. However, the new 30 % price is only temporary and has always been higher. It simply looks more sensible next to the absurd 145 % rate that was recently in place. Companies are still admonishing as those discussions progress about upcoming rate increases to deal with the fresh taxes, including Sony, which could lead to a rate increase for its ever-popular PlayStation 5 computers.

As rates change, we’ll be updating this article often. It’s all in the title of helping you make sense of things but be sure to check back every so often. For more information, consult CNET’s guideline on whether to wait to make significant purchases or to purchase them right away. Also, learn about how to make for a recession.

Methodology

We release the article and the important charts right away to reveal any changes in prices and are constantly checking prices. The most recent of the following figures is marked” Now” and displays the current price. Each one has a single bullet point for each quarter. For the past weeks, we’ve gone with what was the most popular price for each piece in the given month. &nbsp,

The traditional price-tracker tool Keepa was used to most often get the price information used in these graphs from Amazon. For the smartphones, the costs come from Apple’s standard materials and are based on the 128-gigabyte basic design of the latest giving for each year: the iPhone 14, phone 15 and phone 16. TheXbox One X’s prices were determined using the PriceTracker tool at Best Buy. If any of these goods are going to be on sale at any particular time, we’ll be sure to let you know and explain how these price drops can be affected by potential longer-term pricing trends.

The 11 products we’re tracking

Electronic devices and digital items that CNET covers in depth, like iPhones and affordable 4K TVs, are primarily what we’re tracking in this article, along with the typical bag of coffee, a more modest product that isn’t produced in the US in any significant way. &nbsp,

The products featured were chosen for a few reasons: Some of them are popular and/or affordable representatives for major consumer tech categories, like smartphones, TVs and game consoles. Other products are meant to represent items like printer ink and coffee beans that consumers might purchase more frequently. Due to the higher likelihood of tariffs, some products were chosen over others. Some of these products have been reviewed by CNET or have been featured in some of our best lists.

We’ll detail each individual product’s individual characteristics below.

iPhone 16

The iPhone is the most popular smartphone brand in the US, so this was a clear priority for price tracking. Given its popularity and potential import taxes, the iPhone has also become a major topic of conversation about tariffs because of its overseas production, primarily in China. Trump reportedly has a fixation on the notion that the iPhone can and should be produced in the US, a notion that experts have dismissed as a fantasy. Estimates have also suggested that a US-made iPhone would cost as much as$ 3, 500.

The price shown is what you’ll see if you purchase your phone from a major carrier, so there’s something to keep in mind about this graph. You’ll be charged an additional$ 30 if you purchase an iPhone 16 directly from Apple or Best Buy without having a carrier involved, so in some places you might see the list price of the standard iPhone 16 listed as$ 830.

Apple has made several moves this year to protect its prices in the US as much as possible, like flying in bulk shipments of product ahead of the tariffs taking effect and working to move production for the American market from China to India, where tariff rates are less severe. Given his noted fixation on the iPhone, Trump responded with this statement, saying last week that he “had a little problem” with Tim Cook over the decision, alleging without any supporting evidence that the Apple CEO had promised to increase manufacturing in the US. Cook and other employees who have worked for the company for years contend that moving manufacturing entirely to the US is too difficult. &nbsp,

Trump threatened a 25 % fine against Apple products this week if it didn’t relocate its manufacturing to the US. How that will turn out is still a mystery, but note that iPhones made in the US that are primarily made there would still likely be significantly less expensive than those that are made there.

Duracell AA batteries

Although many of the tech products in your home might have a rechargeable energy source, individual batteries are still a daily necessity, and I can tell you from experience that you’ll need to restock once you forget about them. The Duracell AAs we’re tracking are some of the top-selling batteries on Amazon.

Samsung DU7200 TV

Televisions are among the most well-known tech products available, even if they aren’t frequently purchased. This particular product is a well-known 4K TV and was CNET’s choice for best overall budget TV for 2025. Unlike a lot of tech products that have key supply lines in China, Samsung is a South Korean company so it might have some measure of tariff resistance. &nbsp,

This model has been priced at around$ 400 for the majority of 2025, but it’s currently priced at around$ 429. Whether this is a temporary fluctuation or a more permanent price hike, we’ll let you know as time goes on.

Xbox One X

Video game software and hardware are a market segment expected to be hit hard by the Trump tariffs. Microsoft’s Xbox is the first console brand to see price hikes — the company cited “market conditions” along with the rising cost of development. Most notably, this included an increase in the price of the flagshipXbox One X, up from $500 to $600. Numerous Xbox accessories also were affected and the company also said that “certain” games will eventually see a price hike from $70 to $80.

Initially, we were tracking the price of the much more popular Nintendo Switch as a representative of the gaming market. Nintendo has not yet increased the price of its handheld-console hybrid, and it has stressed that the$ 450 price tag for the upcoming Switch 2 has not yet been inflated due to tariff increases. Sony, in contrast, has so far only increased prices for its PlayStation hardware in markets outside the US.

AirPods Pro 2

The most recent iteration of Apple’s wildly popular true-wireless earbuds is now available to market the headphones market. A quick look at the Amazon sales charts on the internet shows you how much the brand dominates all headphone sales, much to the chagrin of the audiophiles out there. Earlier in the year, they tended to be noticeably cheaper on Amazon, but as now, they have steadily creeped back up towards their$ 250 list price.

HP 962 CMY printer ink is ink-jet.

This HP printer ink is a combination of cyan, magenta, and yellow, and it recently saw a price increase of$ 72, which is roughly its highest level in the last five years. We will be keeping tabs to see if this is a long-term change or a brief uptick.

We’re still tracking that item, but this one replaced Overture PLA Filament for 3D printers in this piece.

Anker 30-watt power bank with 10 000 mAh.

Anker’s accessories are perennially popular in the tech space and the company has already announced that some of its products will&nbsp, get more expensive as a direct result of tariffs. This particular item has also been listed among CNET’s top picks for the best portable chargers. It is currently on sale for$ 16 on Amazon, but only for Prime members, despite the price having remained constant throughout the year.

Bose TV speaker

Given the frequently iffy quality of the speakers built into TVs, soundbars have become important purchases. The Bose TV Speaker is one of the more affordable soundbar options available, especially considering it comes from a brand as well-known as Bose, even though it isn’t the biggest or best option in the space. This product has been one of the steadiest on this list in terms of price throughout the year, but it’s currently on sale for$ 199, potentially as part of Amazon’s Memorial Day sale. Therefore, this might be the time if you’re looking for a cheap, tariff-free TV speaker.

Electric toothbrushes like the Oral-B Pro 1000

They might be a lot more expensive than their traditional counterparts but electric toothbrushes remain a popular choice for consumers because of how well they get the job done. My dentist will never forget how important I need one, I am sure. CNET chose this particular Oral-B offering as its top pick for the best electric toothbrush in 2025 overall.

Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5i Chromebook

One of the biggest laptop manufacturers is Lenovo, which is known for producing products in China that are particularly susceptible to Trump’s tariffs.

( 28-ounce bag ) Starbucks Ground Coffee

Coffee is included in this tracker because of its ubiquity– I’m certainly drinking too much of it these days– and because it’s uniquely susceptible to Trump’s tariff agenda. Unlike other countries, coffee beans can only be grown close to Earth’s equator, a tropical region known as the” Coffee Belt,” which is largely undeveloped.

Hawaii is the only US state that can produce coffee beans, with data from USAFacts revealing that 11.5 million pounds of the crop there were harvested between 2022 and 2023, which is little more than a mug drop because the US consumed 282 times that much coffee during that time. Making matters worse, Hawaiian coffee production has declined in the past few years.

All that said, Americans almost all of their coffee is produced abroad, making it one of the most likely products to see price increases as a result of tariffs.
