For years, the rest researchers at CNET have been testing and reviewing pillows. We have tested over 300 bedrooms in total at this point. In our 6, 000-square-foot bedding warehouse in Reno, Nevada, we have established a testing procedure that applies to all beds during that period. We have two practice rooms where our Mattress Smasher 9000 costs each bed, as well as two virtual rooms where our hands-on screening process takes place.

Everyone in the company is involved in our screening process to make sure everyone’s body type, gender, and perspective is represented. We base our estimates on the bed’s composition on our years of experience in areas like strength. Important elements of our approach, however, allow us to honestly evaluate pillows against one another.

Firmness

Our strength assessment involves both subjective and objective criteria. Our player’s experience placing the bed in various positions determines the personal strength score we assign to each bed. We take into account whether a bed is delicate or friendly, and whether any jobs are uncomfortable.

The Mattress Smasher 9000, a custom system created by the CNET labs group, is the subject of our target bed testing. The MS9K objectively assesses the strength of each sleep by pressing down with the force of a 160-pounder. After that, we compile the data. Before the MS9K can speed the bed, we usually test it on its strength. In this way, the information doesn’t affect our experience. That’s the beauty of mattress testing: Although it’s good to have imperative data, subjectivity is how we can help you find the ideal bed.

Think of action loneliness as the ability of a bed to dampen movement across a surface. This is important for those who have a diverse sleeping schedule than their partner or who sleep with animals. Memory foam typically performs well in movement confinement, but some hybrids have more jump, which lowers their score.

We perform two things to check movement isolation. A staff member initial places their eyes on the mattress and closes their view. Therefore, to create cosleeping, someone else will move around the bed. How much of a motion is felt is recorded. The liquid crystal test is the second method for determining motion isolation. We place a cup on the edge of the bed, and we make sure to observe how much the water goes as it moves along it. If the bed pours or tips over, it won’t have great action isolation.

Top support

Top support, or the strength of the bed’s perimeter, is essential for couples who need access to the whole sleeping space. It’s also crucial for those with mobility issues who have trouble getting in and out of bed.

We sit and lie on the edge of the bed to test the support of the top and find out how much the top rocks in under our pounds. The pillow gets a low index if it gives the impression that we might move away. Hybrid typically excel in this area.

Temperature 

One of the bed industry’s biggest selling items is the heat. However, a company must adhere to no rules or standards before it can claim to keep you cool at night. We make use of our expertise and knowledge to help you identify what is authentic and what is selling.
